Reason #191,804 why it’s difficult to take The Golden Globes seriously anymore:
If these awards were really as important as The Hollywood Foreign Press and Dick Clark would have us believe – the ceremony would have gone ahead as planned, but with no cameras allowed. Actors and actresses, directors, and producers could have gathered, eat, drank and be merry. They could have accepted statues and gave speeches, if only in the company of each other.
But no…if it can’t be on TV so advertising dollars to be had, then it just can’t happen.

Instead, The HFPA and Dick Clark handed the local economy an $100M hit- more than triple the budget of the film they handed Best Picture to -and scaled the whole soiree down to a press conference.
