Thoughts from your host…

A new year begins for the podcast and the site, even if it must start with one more glance over the shoulder at the year gone by.

It’s a funny thing about film, isn’t it? So much of one year’s beginning is dotted with the previous year’s end. We watch awards get handed out, and fork over money for movies that are weeks or even months old. Seems a little counterintuitive, but then maybe it’s the medium’s way of gently lowering us into new waters…instead of dropping us into the deep end.

It’s encouraging, isn’t it? That a new year doesn’t have to begin with an all-or-nothing change, but can be about slowly taking a few last looks at where you were…before looking ahead to where you’re going.

So it goes, as we bring on my favorite Estonian for the new episode, and get a little bit closer to eventually getting all of the Chicks With Accents to drop by the show.
