Who’s That Girl

Usually for my “Watch-This Wednesdays”, I try to post a trailer of a film that looks fun, looks interesting, let’s face it – looks like something I’ll be seeing. But today, I’m posting one that I actually have no interest in seeing. So why post it? Well, because when I originally saw it before a screening of ATONEMENT, I was struck with one overwhelming reaction…
…there had to be a better title.

  1. I know I’m late on this, but I can understand the desire to have a straightforward title. My suggestion would have been, “This Will Suck All Manner Of Balls”.

  2. It’s actually based on the book, “The Other Boelyn Girl” by Phillipa Gregory that came out 6 or 7 years ago. She writes a whole series of historical fiction on Henry VII, Anne Boelyn, Elizabeth I that are actually quite good, if you’re into that sort of thing. The Other Boelyn Girl is supposedly the best of the lot.

  3. Yeah, someone pointed that out to me recentlly (probably should post an edit mentioning that).

I still think it’s a crummy name…something along the lines of “Romeo and Ethel The Pirate’s Daughter”. Woulda been the sort of thing I would have re-christened when the film was made.

Y’know, from “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep” to “BLADE RUNNER”?

  4. Yeah I agree there could have been a better title for the film, especially with the similar looking “The Duchess” coming out later in the year with Ralph Fiennes and Keira Knightley. At least to people who aren’t familiar with the book they know they’re getting a story about someone other than Anne Boelyn.
