Welcome to My Nightmare (Full List of TIFF Titiles Announced)

The full list of titles for the 2009 Toronto International Film Festival have been announced.

Ordinarily, when this bit of news hits I find myself interested in seeing what big titles are on the slate that hadn’t been announced already. This year, I’m a bit behind since I haven’t been keeping as close an eye on the announcements as they happen.

So while I might see a title on the list and think “Wow cool!”, many others might already have known they were coming.

The full list can be found here (including full synopses this year). If any of these jump out as something you’d pick, leave a comment. I’d hate to miss out on something just because I didn’t notice it.

As for me, here are some of the titles I’ll be trying to choose between when I pick my three screenings…

AGORA
BROKEN EMBRACES
CAPITALISM: A LOVE STORY
GOOD HAIR
JENNIFER’S BODY
LIFE DURING WARTIME
[ REC ] 2
THE ROAD
SURVIVAL OF THE DEAD
WHIP IT
WHITE STRIPES: UNDER THE GREAT WHITE NORTHERN LIGHTS

  1. You're going to skip Herzog's Bad Lieutenant remake? Jon Amiel's Creation? Noé's Enter the Void? Joe Dante's The Hole? Herzog and Lynch's My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done? Neil Jordan's Ondine? Miguel Arteta's Youth in Revolt?

And you have to narrow it down to just three? Aaargh.

  2. See Tony – that's why I posted the link…cause I was sure there were titles I missed at a glance!

Thanks for the additional suggestions. Somethin' tells me this will be a rough year to narrow down to three.

  3. I'm still knee deep in the gory glory of the Toronto After Dark film festival so I've barely had a chance to look at the titles (although I did print of an alphabetical list by program, of course….)

Wow, only 3 screenings eh? Well a lot will be the left to the mercy of the schedule, eh?

  4. This is an impossible challenge. Might as well accept that and just give up.

    But if it were me…

    1. A Serious Man
    2. The Road
    3. Broken Embraces

  5. Almost all of those will likely have regular releases. .. you looking for the stars? 🙂

  6. @ Shannon… Those were just what caught my attention at a glance. I actually haven't delved into the guide because I know it will make my choice that much tougher.

In other news, did you get the memo that TIFF screwed up, and due to a publication error, they allowed people to use 10 passes and the like to request tickets for Visa Screening Room movies?

  7. I did see that note about the printing error (I called them on that Tuesday afternoon!) but they recommend a backup. Later they added there is absolutely no guarentee because donors will have dibbs on them (they worded it differentl;y).

I wish you the best of luck on getting your selections!
