Here’s one of those cases where the premise of a film wouldn’t be enough to get me into the cinema. It seems as though I’ve seen this movie a hundred similar ways on a hundred different days.

Then however, you add in a few x-factors…like Tom Hardy, and James Gandolfini, and Dennis Lehane. The latter is the especially big “x-factor” since I sit here a fan of the previous three book adaptations of his work I’ve seen, and likewise a fan of a fourth book that I’ve actually read (The Given Day). Maybe all of this comes together to make for something interesting?

No matter what, I’m setting odds at 4:1 that puppy doesn’t make it through the movie.

  1. Nooooo O_O don’t say the puppy’ll die! Lol. It’s very cute.

I love Tom Hardy (always weird to hear him speak American though :/) and I think Gandolfini is great too, that it’s his final role gives it a whole other layer.

I’m genuinely looking forward to seeing this movie, even if the plot (from the trailer) looks like something we’ve already seen a dozen times before. Don’t care 😀

    1. I certainly hope the puppy survives…I just get a bad feeling about it.

Crazy thing about Hardy – he’s very quickly become an actor who will pique my interest in a project simply because he’s in it. Even films I thought were only “okay” (read: Lawless), I still came away digging them all the more because he was in them. Please tell me you’ve seen BRONSON already?

    2. Yeah you may be right. They do like to torture the audience like that, eh.

Well, I’ll tell you a secret – I am a huge fan of Tom Hardy xD. Have been for some time now. He’s great and I’m glad he’s growing so much and he’s taken on some pretty interesting projects.

As a fan I’ve of course seen Bronson, which was brilliant, but my favorite performance of his is that in Stuart: A Life Backwards (with Benedict Cumberbatch). It’s an amazing movie.

And I agree he was the only thing that made Lawless remotely interesting – I really didn’t like that movie much, only watched it because he’s in it xD

Can’t wait to see Locke, though, or The Drop, or the new Mad Max movie. I hope they’re going to have a Perth red carpet premiere :>
