  1. I'm anticipating this movie with a very high level of cautiousness. Afraid if I allow myself to get caught up in all the hype I'll run into expecting to jump up at the end screaming Oscars, and instead going with a golf clap. So I'm looking forward to it, but hoping to avoid the insane praise too early.

  2. @ Univarn… Yeah, it's tough sometimes trying to find the sweet spot between seeming like a blind optimist about the next big thing, and coming off like a cold hearted cynic about how any given entity is "over".

Guess we'll have to wait until December and see for ourselves, no?

  3. I feel out of the loop since I haven't heard anything about this before now. But it looks pretty great! Much better than Men Who Stare at Goats. (At least Clooney has one promising film). If this is an Oscar vehicle for anyone, I hope it's Vera Farmiga.

  4. @ Blake… I'm really trying to temper my Oscar prognosticating, so you won't hear much about that from me until the year-end shortlists start arriving in late November.

As for GOATS, I'll be seeing it – so maybe I can be your cinematic canary in the crappy-film-coal mine.

  5. Really can't wait to see this. This and "Where the Wild Things Are" are at the top of my list for films I really want to see this fall.

It already looks a hundred times better than "The Terminal", which is all I ask for from a movie that prominently features airports.

  6. Hmmm…top 5 films that prominently feature airports?

    1. Fight Club (debate prominently)
    2. Airplane
    3. Planes, Trains and Automobiles
    4. Die Hard 2?
    5. yeah, I'm tapped (going off the top of my head)

The reason to get hyped about this one is not only Clooney, but Reitman. He's 2-for-2 thus far, and this looks strong, if a bit low-key (understatement).

Blake – what's wrong with Goats? It looks like a fun romp, if nothing else. More fun and The Informant, anywhow.

  7. The Terminal didn't seem worthy.

I actually thought about Garden State and was about to put it, but I figured that that was stretching the use of "prominently" a bit too far.
