Editor’s Note: While this site has a ground rule of staying a-political, Canada lost a great leader this week. The photo for this post was selected especially to honour the memory of Jack Layton – RM

I can’t believe it’s only been a week since I launched this space…it already feels like it’s been a part of me for a dog’s age. Thankyouthankyouthankyou to everybody who made this first week so successful by visiting, linking, commenting and doing the whole Twitter-following-thing.

I do hope some of y’all can continue to spread the news though. As was to be expected, my usual traffic took a bit of a dip, and I think it’s just because people still had Google Readers and the like set to the old feed and didn’t notice the sign-off post. So any last gasps of hype y’all can drum up would be very much appreciated.

Getting everything up and going did create one happy side-effect, it allowed me to get back out to screenings again. Constantly turning them down so I could stay in and get everything here “just so” meant that I went the first three weeks of August without seeing a single new release (and only one screening at all!). Made up for that with a vengeance by getting to three in seven days.

But enough about me. For your reading and listening fulfillment, I give you…

CriticalMassCast returned this week! Take a listen to some fellow Canadian podcasters talk all things fantasy film.

Andy Buckle watched the Robert Altman classic NASHVILLE this week and was quite smitten with it. I saw it for the first time just over a year ago (in a theatre no less), and while I loved it dearly, I wondered how it would play to others of my generation. Andy’s passion for it fills me with hope!

Have you noticed a slight empty feeling since June? That’s because Emma the FilmGeek has been woefully away from her keyboard. Happily, she has returned and wants to play catch-up.

Kano’s at it again. Fresh of the Women of TV bracket, Mr. Kane has created a poll bracket for the Guys of TV – with fresh showdowns going up daily. Vote early, vote often.

As I mentioned yesterday, a film I’m looking forward to getting my mitts on at TIFF is Almodovar’s THE SKIN I LIVE IN. Seems as though Napier has already seen it – and his glowing review tells me that I’m in for a treat if I do indeed nab a ticket.

Ever find yourself stumped on what dvd to pull from the shelf next? Vance has you covered.

Finally, given my jump to that bit of social media that has all the kids goin’ crazy, I’ve decided that I will begin concluding my “Everybody’s Talkin” posts with a Tweet of The Week. For starters, we have a good friend who asks a good question.

Enjoy!

  1. I’m glad everything is starting to pick up again for you, the site is looking great. Digging the new feature.

Though, not digging the deletion of my comment on Facebook 😉
