Thoughts from your host…

I make mention of this within the course of today’s episode, but allow me a moment of thanks.

Nine years ago this week – December 5th, 2009 – Matineecast #1 was unassumingly sent out into cyberspace. It was short, it was quiet, it featured two people using pseudonyms, and it was a mad experiment I wasn’t sure would work.

It’s 2018, and here we are…about to begin a tenth year of this same mad experiment.

I’m a senior citizen where podcasting is concerned; if my listeners could see the grey in my hair they’d know where it all came from because I’ve been at this thing so very long! It has seen me through some lousy days, and some great days. There were times when I wasn’t sure I could keep doing it, and times where I couldn’t wait to turn my microphone back on.

It allowed me a way to get closer to people, and sometimes even pushed people away. It’s something I’m immensely proud of, and yet just paltry mark on this world.

I cherish the conversations I’ve had in the name of this project. I’m thrilled that I’ve been able to share them. I’m a better person because of the people I’ve met by way of them – both those that are no longer around, and those who I have come to trust implicitly.

I’ve always said that this space is dedicated to passion and perspective, and the podcast might be the brightest candle burning within said space. Guests have infected me with their passion, and they have often altered my perspective. Often times it’s only contained to the artform we discuss…but now and then, my passion and perspective for life itself has been affected because of this tiny little podcast.

If you’ve dropped by and spoken with me even once, I’m grateful. If you’ve tuned-in and listened even once, I’m grateful. It’s been an incredible nine years, and I can’t wait to get started on year ten.

Thanks for tuning into episode two-hundred-eleven.

Comments and feedback are welcome, and thank-you very much for listening.

Enjoy!
