Thoughts from your host…

This summer has been a bit of a blur, dear listeners.

One second I was caught-up in the mayhem of Hot Docs and Raptors playoffs, the next minute I looked up and TIFF was right around the corner. Where did the time go? What’s more, where did my movies go?? Was the good summer stuff off in some unexplored multiplex that I don’t know about? Did it spring from a film festival in a far-flung corner of the world and not yet make its way to North America?

This summer has been haphazard, busy, curious, and joyful…all qualities I believe make their way into this episode of the show.

It’s a bit more rustic than usual, a bit more immediate. We dispel with some of the usual segments (Namely, “The Other Side”) and get a bit more broad in our discussion of the film. At the end of it all, what you get is a lot like pulling up a chair on the patio of a bar that happens to be across the street from the theatre…

…which isn’t far off from the way this episode shook down.
