For the last two weeks or so, I’ve been working my way through the back episodes of a podcast I was turned on to called What She’s Having. The great thing about discovering a podcast that’s hit its stride is that there’s a wealth of material to go through. Case in point, WSH has been a daily listen for me and I’ve barely scratched the surface.

In listening to their show, I’ve felt a bit of a shot in the arm towards romantic comedies. For two or three years now, I’ve felt like the genre has gotten a bad rap…and hearing them discuss entires into the genre at length only underlines that feeling. There’s dreck out there for sure, but there are also someĀ really great stories that go on to become classics. What’s more, they go on to become snapshots on how women and men interact with one-another.

To this end, might we one dayWHAT IF (known here in The Great White North as THE F WORD)? Those who have seen it say good things. Perhaps it’s destined to join the pantheon…

  1. This one is on my to-see list. The trailer looks good – though it seems that it does give a lot away. It has a bit of a (500) Days of Summer vibe to it, so I’m hoping that it would be awesome and a great addition to the genre.

    1. With every passing day, I’m beginning to believe more and more that (500) might be one of the most influential rom-coms of the century so far. Its fingerprints seem to be all over so many of the great stories that have come in the five years that have followed.

      Who knew?

Actually, *I* knew – everytime I see its influence I feel better and better about the four-star review I gave it back in 2009
