Train in Vain

I’ll bet you thought I was finished rambling about THE DARJEELING LIMITED. Think again.

The movie, which I think is the greatest movie about brothers on a train of all time, goes into a wider release this week. That part is not news. What is interesting though, is the fact that HOTEL CHEVALIER will now be shown before the movie. The ten minute short, which is a prologue to DARJEELING, was previously only available online – and at that, only through iTunes USA. During a recent visit to MTV Canada, director Wes Anderson was asked if international fans would ever get to see the piece properly. He replied that he was working on a solution. Pretty cool that Wes Anderson has bundled the two pieces together for audiences now, though I’m not sure if it’s enough reason to get me back out for a second watching just yet.

In other DARJEELING news, it seems as though Natalie Portman regrets doing a nude scene for CHEVALIER. I’m not entire sure why Portman is so worked up, I didn’t even think it was any better or worse than her stripper scenes in CLOSER, nor is the scene especially gratuitous (for that, watch Halle Berry in SWORDFISH). Perhaps she feels that by revealing her goodies, she’ll no longer be considered a “serious actress”? Rest easy Amidala. If your career survived WHERE THE HEART IS, it’ll survive this.

  1. I have to say about 10 minutes into Darjeeling I said to myself “Why oh why didn’t I watch the short before seeing this?”.

I’m sure it was fine without it, but considering they are adding it now sounds like having both is better.
