21 Thoughts on a Monday Morning

  • How come new releases can’t crack $20M for an opening weekend lately?
  • I’m told GONE BABY GONE is surprisingly good, might have to go see that after all.
  • After all the RENDITION/30 DAYS conversation Friday, I ended up seeing neither.
  • Just added my brother’s movie blog to my link list – check it out.
  • Kevin Murphy just spent a chapter raving about The Midnight Sun Film Festival in Finland – I so want to check it out someday.
  • Will power is spending 30 minutes in an HMV with a pocket full of money and walking out empty handed.
  • It still feels early to be talking Oscar, but I think a lot of the heavy contenders have already hit screens.
  • Thanks for all the Zip.ca votes folks, here’s hoping I can win the $100 this week.
  • The Red Sox making it to The World Series has me wanting to watch FEVER PITCH.
  • Stop mocking my affection for FEVER PITCH.
  • It’s amusing to watch dvd’s of what scared people in 1931 (DRACULA)
  • Hey cool! My scratched copy of TOMBSTONE still plays!
  • You know Halloween is coming soon when PROM NIGHT III is on tv.
  • The Red Sox making it to The World Series also has me wanting to watch THE DEPARTED, GOOD WILL HUNTING, BLOWN AWAY, and MYSTIC RIVER
  • Hmmm…if I’m gonna rent scary movies for Halloween, I really should get on that.
  • Re-watched IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER this weekend, I’d forgotten how great it was.
  • I need a top five for tomorrow – suggestions?
  • If/when I buy TRANSFORMERS on dvd, do I need to pony up the extra cash for the special edition?
  • Though I have added my brother’s blog, there will be no wagering permitted on which of us is a better writer – these blogs are for entertainment purposes only. Seriously…no betting!
  • Hey, CONTROL comes out on Friday! Go see it.
  • Damn…remind me to buy a new copy of TOMBSTONE

      1. I was gonna suggest top 5 Boston movies, but you kinda shot your wad.

        I am the better writer.

If you want to borrow Nightmare on Elm Street or The Shining (on VHS!) I may be done with them by Halloween. But lots of horror classics are on for $6 at HMV anyway, or you could just go to Film Fiends like I suggested.

      2. I’m really looking forward to the release of Control on Friday, and thankful that it doens’t conflict with Toronto After Dark Film Festival. I will have to aclimitize to seeing non scary films again!
