This episode would have been up an hour ago, but Jodie Foster wouldn’t give me back my microphone.

So Oscar nominees! I don’t care all that much about who does and doesn’t win as much as I am interested in who makes the shortlist as the year’s best. This year there were more surprises than there have been for a little while, which will only keep me coming back for more!

I didn’t ask her directly, but I have a hunch my guest this episode would agree.

So come with us as we stay up past zero dark thirty, to show our amour for the southern wilds where the beasts live. We witness Django get unchained, thumb through the playbook, and talk about pi’s life. We then get misreable about argo and Lincoln (Shoulda quit while I was ahead, right?)

Last year I mentioned how much my Oscar guest was a champ because of all the technical difficulties she’s endured. This year she took time out from her vacation to take part in the show. So allow me to say it one more time: Champ.

  1. Great podcast! Really enjoyed it. Ryan, my pull is for Silver Linings Playbook too. One of my favorites of the year! 🙂 And you guys definitely have me itching to see Amour too. Difficult time trying to find it playing over here.

    1. Pretty sure AMOUR has opened somewhere in Chicago – Nick Prigge saw it, so it’s gotta be somewhere. My guess is that wherever it was that he saw it isn’t exactly “around the corner” for you.

      Thanks for listening!

    2. Kristin! It’s showing at the Landmark! So it’s in the city and so you’d have to leave your cozy suburb to see it and the drive back would be really long and depressing but still…it’d be worth it.

Also, Quvenzhane Wallis is going to be in the next Steve McQueen movie? Am I the only one who fears for little Quvenzhane’s mental state in that one?
