A quick word of thanks.

As I mention early on in this episode, The Matineecast turns three years old this week. In that time I’ve met a lot of great people, talked to some pretty interesting guests, and honed the show into something I’m rather proud of. In the early-going I used to joke that I had a listenership of six. I’ve obviously grown since then, and the encouragement that has come all of you awesome people who have tuned in has been wonderful.

In an age where so many blogs and podcasts fold up after a few weeks, I’m pretty proud to have kept the show going for this long…and hopefully I’m not done with it anytime soon.

So again, thanks. Thanks for listening, for sending in feedback, for giving me ideas to make it better, and for dropping by to do a guest spot if you have indeed done so.

  1. You didn’t include my feedback. Oh we’ll. I need to think about the next one, so I’ll get back to you on that.

Also, I have to say that I agreed with you on the ending of Killing Them Softly. I had a more middle of the road response to the film. I found it watchable, but it’s very unlikely that I’ll revisit it.

  2. As I posted on twitter, the reason I want Malick to retire is because I think he’s getting really indulgent now and I fear it will only get worse.I also think he’s trying to make too many movies at once. He’s taken his time in the past, now he just threw To the Wonder out there in a very short amount of time and I’ve yet to hear anyone say it’s up to Malick’s standards. I’ll still watch it, but I’m setting my expectations low.

My original answer was going to be HEAVEN’S GATE on bluray, but I felt like I already mentioned that enough elsewhere.

The franchise I’d like to see more of? Hellboy. I know it’s a pretty recent franchise, but I want them to make the third one. They’ve pretty much set up that the third film is probably going to be about the apocalypse and possible human/demon babies. I love Ron Perlman as Hellboy, he was born to play the character. And if Guillermo del Toro helms it, I think we’ll have another fantastic film on our hands.

  3. I think we all have to agree that Andrew had the best answer to “who would play you in the movie of your life” that has yet been recorded.

  4. the disaster movie THE CORE put my wife into labour, and our first child was born shortly after watching that movie. Yup, THE CORE sent at least one person to the hospital…
