I know, I know – two trailers in a row points to me starting to mail in the content, right?

I have a lot more original work coming down the pipe, including a few reviews, possibly a double dose tomorrow with both a Freeze Frame post and a links round-up, not to mention a pretty freakin’ epic podcast to edit for y’all for Monday. So I might be lollygagging right now, but I assure you there are a lot of things brewing in this huge head of mine.

As for this trailer, colour me excited. Y’know, if you’d pulled me aside seven years ago and told me I’d turn into a Woody Allen fan, I’d never have believed you. His classics never landed for me. I’d never go so far as to say I disliked them, but he just didn’t seem to be my brand of humour.

Now here I am, a deep admirer of a lot of his canon and one who eagerly anticipates his new releases. The fact that his new releases are very hit-and-miss makes them even more anticipated in my book, considering the guessing game they inspire!

So what do we think will come of this tale starring Firth and Ston, folks? Hit or miss?

  1. I’m super excited for it. True some elements are from Allen’s earlier films ad it’s not “completely” original but then IT’S EMMA STONE AND COLIN FIRTH CONVERSING, PEOPLE! IN 20s GARB! *dies*

  2. It doesn’t look like a classic Woody Allen film but it might be entertaining. Of course I’ll see it. After all, I did survive the Summer of Woody last year. Barely.

    1. No, it doesn’t look like ‘classic Woody’…but it is somewhat evocative of MIDNIGHT IN PARIS, which, as ‘modern-Woody’ goes is a great benchmark to aim for.

      Here’s hoping?

  3. This looks so great! Seriously! Very on board with Nikhat — Emma Stone and Colin Firth in the twenties!!!!! Eeeeeeeeeeeep! Thanks for sharing this, I never see trailers these days!

    1. It’s funny you mention never seeing trailers because:

A – My trailer posts are amongst my lowest-read, so I sometimes wonder why I bother

B – Outside of the theatre, I seldom see trailers either since I stopped frequenting sites like comingsoon and Trailer Addict. I’ve preferred to start going in fresh!
