I had just started getting used to the short dispatches these Hot Docs episodes were becoming, when along came a great discussion that turned out to run the length of a normal Matineecast episode! Who knew there would be so much to say about Republicans in Iowa?

The great thing about this discussion is that beyond the film up for discussion itself, I’m able to get my guest to share a few insightful thoughts on nonfiction film in general.

Here’s what’s in store in part three…

  1. There is no more asinine a way to pick a presidential candidate than the caucus system. The only thing we end up with every four years is a collection of candidates who either work the coffers well, or draw out those extra special constituents that have no foothold in reality.

    1. That could be (as a Canadian, I have no clue). Regardless, this movie made for an interesting watch…which is a pretty cool achievement considering it focuses on politicians whose politics don’t align with my own.

Thanks for listening mate – and for leaving a comment.
