I Can See Clearly Now

If you’re as Oscar-obsessed as I am, 2007 might well have been driving you crazy. Until the last week or so, there was no clear-cut contenders. Lots of movies making the rounds seem like they will take home some gold (SWEENEY TODD, NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN, JUNO)…but all of them have knocks against them that could take them out of contention (gothic musical, too violent, too slight a comedy). Well the muddy picture just got a bit clearer yesterday when the Broadcast Critics announced their nominees for their 2007 awards. Here are the ten nominees for best film, and for what it’s worth, they are remarkably accurate when it comes to handicapping the eventual five Academy Award nominees for best picture…
