Good Friday

Two nights back I didn’t know what to write about. Today I have so much to say I’m on my third post in thirteen hours. Go figure.

This morning I came across an article in The Toronto Star that brought both a smile and left me scratching my head. On one hand it details my news from yesterday about The Revue Theatre, and goes on to share the happy news that The Fox Theatre will also be re-opening. The Fox was once part of the same group of rep cinemas as The Revue, so to hear that it too has earned itself a second life is great news for a Toronto film enthusiast.

The same article mentions a new multiplex that Cineplex is building in Oakville that will feature cushy seating, in-seat food service, pool tables, bowling lanes, and babysitting. Hmmm…maybe I’m just a tad too young to appreciate this idea, but I don’t know if I’m ready for a hybrid of a theatre and a Dave & Buster’s. The full article can be found here

Opening in Theatres Today…

THE DARJEELING LIMITED (Check back Sunday morning for a review)
THE HEARTBREAK KID (Ben Stiller is back with his usual brand of silliness)
THE SEEKER (Looks pretty good in that Narnia kind of way)
MICHAEL CLAYTON (Might see this too before the weekend ends)

  1. I think this waiter/theatre usher is a good idea for customers who don’t want to get up and go the main lobby. I hope Cineplex will built more Silvercities like this. The original Silvercities caters mostly for teenagers, have flashy colours and they are just plain old multiplex theatres. The old Silvercities also looks cheap.
