We have officially passed the halfway point of the year, which is customarily the point where we take a breath and take stock of where we’re at. If you ask me, 2016 is in a weird place. The first three or four months were so promising, with many of the spring films over-delivering.

Animation felt more lively, documentaries felt razor-sharp, and the indies hit the spot. But then we got to May and it all went sideways in a hurry.

That’s left me wondering what I might have missed, and by the looks of it this is one of the first films I should try to track down.

…of course, as fate would have it, it’s a film that I’ll have trouble tracking down. That’s not even funny.
