Quick show of hands; Who’s tired of hearing me talk about MONEYBALL? (Two podcasts and two blog posts later, I figured I had to be pressing my luck). If that is your position, never you fear, you have probably heard the last of all things Beane in this space.

I’m looking forward to the next seven days. After taking a day or two this weekend to rest up and finally shake the last throes of this cold, I’ll get back to playing social butterfly next week with a lot of running around – much of it movie related! There will be drinks, there will be nights in, there will be nights out, schlocky stuff, brainy stuff…everything a movie-lover could want.

Then, once I’ve soaked it all up I get to enjoy three separate Thanksgiving dinners!

Indeed, business abounds, and through it all I should find myself with a lot of blogging fodder over the next week or two. Make sure you come back often now, y’hear. But enough about me, let’s see what my friends are up to this week.

For your listening and reading fulfillment, I give you…

Under the banner of “Way Overdue” I’ve finally started listening to the French Toast Sunday podcast. Just yesterday they posted a new episode where they combine alcohol and movie trivia (together at last!). Give a listen, won’t you?

Tonight’s screening of choice will be 50/50, which of course stars some guy. Marshall reviewed it, and seems to think it’s pretty sick (sorry – I couldn’t resist).

Y’know, for one of the most badass bloggers around, The Kid in the Front Row is pretty humble.

Rachel browsed through the classics section this week and landed on one of my faves (Thanks again, Bob) – The Billy Wilder essential DOUBLE INDEMNITY.

Are you playing Double Feature Friday yet? If not – what are you waiting for?

Finally if I have one regret about how hellish these last two weeks have been, it’s that I couldn’t keep up with Ruth’s coverage of The twin Cities Film Festival. But that shouldn’t stop you – grab a cup of tea and pour over all this goodness.

As for the Tweet of The Week, Rot asks out-loud what we’ve all thought to ourselves…

  1. You k’now, Mike’s got a point. For the rest of the trilogy, those Stormtroopers couldn’t hit the broadside of a Star Destroyer.

  2. Re: Stormtrooper accuracy–Back in the mid’90s, Lucas put out their Doom clone game, Dark Forces. In that, they explained that the reason stormtroopers couldn’t hit squat was because the weapons were wildly inaccurate, not because the troops were poorly trained. And, in fact, it was the most inaccurate weapon available to the player.

Coulda had a cure for cancer, instead I know crap like that.
