It’s funny how plans can change…

Turns out I won’t be covering Toronto After Dark after all. I’m a little disappointed – certainly to find out I missed the cut so close to showtime – but in the end, I’m alright with things.

For starters, it’s not like I can’t do with the rest. October has been insane almost from the word “go”, and while much of the insanity is social and self-inflicted, it’s still good to get a respite from it all. Beyond that, I’m quite excited to be meeting just my second out-of-town blogger since I started writing four years ago. This particular out-of-towner has a special spot in my blogging heart, since she was one of my earlier followers and commenters…back when I was writing to an audience of ten. So sometime between now and halloween, expect some sort of content brought to you by yours truly and Alex the Film Forager (huzzah!).

As for the usual end-of-week shenanigans, I have you covered. Early again this week since a review will be comin’ at ya tomorrow morning.

For your listening and reading fulfillment, I give you…

MaMo bringing on a local film writer I quite respect to talk fall TV,

My favorite Caribbean bloger G-Man notched his 1000th post this week – always an accomplishment worth celebrating.

The new find this week was a site called DearFilm.Net. I quite like the format this site uses to write about films (fittingly, it addresses letters to the subject film of the post) and hope to read much more content on the blog in the near future. As if they could read my mind, this week they wrote about HUNGER – a film I’ve been trying to get my mitts on since the moment TIFF ended.

I don’t completely agree with his semantics, but something has Duke in a very 1990’s state of mind.

The Void takes a rather extensive look at the filmography of Gus Van Sant.

Finally there’s my pal Simon who managed to raise a few eyebrows as he revisited STAR WARS EPISODE III.

Finally, a Tweet of the Week that sums up my feelings about sometimes wanting to indulge in something crappy just to see something batshit crazy…

  1. Just wanted to say thanks for the link to my site, I appreciate the exposure. In addition to you liking the site, I’m glad that my HUNGER review was to your tastes.

    1. Anytime – looking forward to reading more of your work. I’m sure I’ll catch up with HUNGER soon. Part of the hitch is that I still roll old-school and rent dvd’s from an indie DVD rental shop. Their copy of HUNGER has been overdue for a few weeks now.

Once they get their copy back, I’m on it.
