Thoughts from your host…

What a year.

Perhaps what amazes me more than the stellar crop of films that we bring up in this episode is the amount of stellar films that dropped in 2014 that didn’t get mentioned by the four of us. THE BABADOOK, BIG HERO 6, CITIZENFOUR, DEAR WHITE PEOPLE, FORCE MAJEURE, FOXCATCHER, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, THE IMITATION GAME, THE IMMIGRANT, INHERENT VICE INTERSTELLAR, LIFE ITSELF, MOMMY, A MOST WANTED MAN, MR. TURNER, NYMPHOMANIAC, ROSEWATER, SNOWPIERCER and others that all could, should, and will make other people’s top lists, but all get left aside.

Mainly? There were so damned man great films this year that the list of also-ran’s is pretty damned spectacular itself.

It’s been a great year at the movies, folks, and it’s time to put it to bed and get the place ready for Doc and Marty when they get here in November.

As usual, if you’re curious about the songs used as bed music, the track list can be found below in the show notes.

As mentioned within the introduction, if you find the bed music distracting, a music-free version of this episode can be found here.

Thanks for tuning in to episode one-hundred-and-twenty-seven…

  1. At this time of year should I be infuriated by all the films that are in peoples top five/ten lists that haven come out here yet, or should I chill out and remember that I have two months of great movies to look forward to when everyone on your side of the Atlantic are going to experience a drought?

I look forward to listening to you picks. Have a great new year.

    1. It’s a two-way street sometimes. I remember this year feeling like Toronto was one of the very last markets to get ONLY LOVERS LEFT ALIVE, and no screen in town showed THE BABADOOK.

Happily, it’s all fodder for the to-see list 🙂

Hope you dig what you hear!
