Tom and Summer

Not one single movie arrived this week that I wanted to see in theatres. Not. A single. One.

What’s amusing in this respect is how next week three titles will hit screens at the same time, all of which I’m super-stoked about since they are new offerings by Steven Spielberg, Danny Boyle, and Guillermo Del Toro. I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again – why the hell can’t studios space things out a bit better? How are there weekends throughout the autumn that bring us multiple quality selections, while still leaving gaps where we feast on scraps. I’m not saying that all three of these movies need weekends to themselves, but couldn’t one of them have been bumped-up seven days?

C’mon studios and distributors – get your heads in the game…

Here’s the week at hand…

Streaming/Blu-Rays/DVD’s I’ve Never Seen
SHORT TERM 12 – After I finished reading “Room”, I felt a need to re-acquaint myself with Brie Larson. Lordy, is this woman underrated.
THE GUEST – Sorry, gang, I really don’t understand the love for this movie.
MIDDLE OF NOWHERE – This, on the other hand…

Streaming/Blu-Rays/DVD’s I’ve Seen Before
AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRONStill stands as “middling Marvel”
WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT – After THE WALK, I felt the urge to reach for Vintage Zemeckis.
HOT FUZZ – Yarp.
SOLARIS – For podcasting purposes, and wow had I forgotten how lush this movie is!
PROMETHEUSWhen do we start getting the “Why You’re Wrong About Prometheus” think pieces?

3 Replies to “Days of The Week (Films Watched October 3 – 9)

  1. First-Timers: Escape from New York, Superman/Batman: Apocalypse, Horrible Bosses 2, Dressed to Kill, Starman, and Just Before I Go

Re-Watches: Rugrats In Paris, Blow Out, and Shrek.

  2. Prometheus is OK and doesn’t deserve the reputation it has, but it isn’t Scott’s unapriciated masterpiece, that is Kingdom of Heaven!
