Yesterday evening, the nomination window opened for The Lammy Awards.

In the past, I haven’t really done much “For Your Consideration” tubthumping. However this year, along with there being a bit of a change in my core readership, there’s also been a lot of changes around this space.

I’ve said this before, but I think it bears repeating – I always just hope to be nominated, since I really believe that’s the best part.

So come with me a moment and let me point out a few things that you might like to highlight if you’re a LAMB…

Best Design – If I’m being honest, this is the nomination I’d really like. You might not recall, but the layout of my space used to look very different. While mapping out the new design wasn’t rocket science, it did take a lot of trial-and-error, a lot of thought, and require a bit of help.

What I’m most proud of with the look of this site though, is that along with the way it allows the site’s content to read much better than the old space did, it also utilizes a template that is relatively new to the blogosphere.

Most Prolific – 440 posts in 365 days, 49 podcast episodes over 52 weeks. All in a day’s work…

Brainiac Award – It feels really narcissistic to even suggest this, so I’ll just plant that seed and move on.

Best Running Feature – I’ve really had a wonderful time talking to my fellow bloggers about pop culture staples they’ve never seen before in the Falling For the First Time series. Along with giving me a chance to get new insight into films I know rather well, it gives me a chance to bring some fresh perspective on to this page.

Best Festival/Awards Coverage –  I do a lot of posts on both festivals and awards, but my favorite time of year for this space is always what I get to talk about during The Toronto International Film Festival. Last year, for instance, I was able to spread the news of films like THE ARTIST, SHAME, and MARTHA MARCY. I had fun talking with my fellow festival-goers in bars and on street corners. And…well…I had my fifteen minutes of fame with an actor I dig.

So while this site does a lot of awards season coverage, and attends five different festivals along the way, it’s the goings-on at TIFF 2011 I’m most proud of.

Best Podcast – What can I say? It’s my baby.

Best Movie Reviewer – Fun Fact: I’ve finished runner-up in this category for two years running!

Best Blog –  You know you wanna…

So there you have it. If you are a LAMB, I hope you might consider dropping a bean or two into my jar, and if you aren’t I hope I haven’t bored you too badly with my moment of self-promotion.

Thanks – and good luck to everyone during the 2012 Lammys.

  1. I’ve started to work on my nomination list. Just wanted to let you know that you’re all over the place. So if you won’t reach the finals, at least it’s not my fault. You’re definitely one of the most deserving out there, and in so many categories! I wish you the best of luck.

  2. Figures I would read this post well after submitting my nominations. Always doing things backwards, I tell ya. 😛 Regardless, I think you will be fairly prevalent in the overall nominations again this year. You were pretty much all over my ballot, and I think that will be the case for many of your other readers.

  3. I’m taking myself out of voting in this year’s LAMMYs given my lack if involvement in the broader community this past year. That said, I wish you the best of luck!

  4. My inner Daria will now commence the slow clap for this bold display of narcissism. Because, really, aren’t you omnipresent in this community anyhow? I mean, geez! 🙂

  5. I was the first one to cast my ballot – but I actually nominated Wathcha been watching — Days of the week as your best running feature.

    Sorry haha.

As for the other categories – I may have voted for you 😀

  6. So it’s back! Best of luck with this year’s Lammys, you will certainly be in my mind for a lot of the categories.

  7. You will getting some of my votes. You have my word.

I just want to call your attention, and everyone else’s, to my Sundance coverage. Lots to like there, I think, and I’d be lying if I said your TIFF coverage didn’t have a big influence on the work I did. Funny story, I also had a big moment with an actor I dig. Hey, maybe it was the same actor. That sure would be a small world.

  8. I think it’s safe to say that you’re taking home Best Podcast and Festival Coverage. You nail that every time passing year.

I’m also trying to court best design votes as well. I’m quite proud of my new(ish) layout.

  9. Haha, you didn’t even need to campaign, you’ll probably get lots of votes. You definitely did from me, anyway. All the best!

  10. Good luck, not that you need it! This is my first LAMB voting year and I’m sure your site will come up during the proceedings.

  11. I did think of you… multiple times in fact. Like Stevee said, you don’t even need to campaign. Your blog speaks for itself, Ryan!

    1. Dug back a page or two did we? (I did a post wrapping up my nominations that posted today)

Thanks for the well-wishes good sir, and kudos to you as well! Your Oscar coverage is something I followed closely, and I might very well have to snag you as the guest for next year’s Oscar Matineecast.

      Here’s to us!
